Why I Became a MN Bankruptcy Attorney

I love helping people. More than that though, I love helping people help themselves. This is one of the main reasons that I became an attorney, and it’s the reason that I decided to practice bankruptcy law. Every day, I get to wake up and look forward to meeting new people, learning their stories, and giving them the peace of mind that comes with knowing that someone is prepared to advocate for you and the things that you care about with the same energy that you would.

My journey to the practice of law started when I was very young. I grew up around attorneys, and as funny as it may sound, one of my earliest memories is actually my mom reading to me from the Bill of Rights while I was eating breakfast before school one morning. This memory left a strong impression on me, as did the idea that we are all individually entitled to the benefit of certain rights and protections. It stuck with me as I grew up, and ultimately, it guided my understanding of the legal system as I went through college and decided to pursue law school myself.

Before I started at LifeBack, I worked as a legal aid attorney specializing in housing law. One of the biggest things that I took away from this experience was the commitment that my clients felt towards protecting their homes, and the vigor that they would put into defending them. Just as someone’s home is at the forefront of their focus and identity, so too are their vehicle, clothes, books, family photographs and the retirement savings that they use to plan for their future. You have a right to defend all of these from your creditors through the bankruptcy process, and that’s what I help people do every day as an attorney with LifeBack Law.

For me, the primary purpose of the law is to protect the rights of individuals. This idea guides me in everything I do as an attorney, and helps me to focus on what is most important: making sure that my client’s rights are protected. Whether this is the right to protect your property, your dignity, or your peace of mind, I always put everything I have into ensuring that each of these things are preserved for the people that I represent. I enjoy every opportunity that I have to serve those who feel like they need help protecting these rights, and giving my clients the security that comes with knowing that these things are defended is what I truly love most about both my job and what we do here on a daily basis at LifeBack Law.
